W1SDØM: Collective, Company, Platform

The biggest problem with being opposed to anything is that all that energy ultimately props up the thing you oppose, at least temporarily.  Instead, we choose to be for something.  

We are for innovative solutions to the problems that address the myriad problems facing our global society.  

We are for transformative models of investing in those innovations.  

We are for building a new economy that takes into account natural resource limites and the fundamental inter-connectedness.

Together, we believe that by increasing the flow of capital -- and we measure four types of capital: intellectual, social, human and financial -- into the hands of the social entrepreneurs who can alchemize that capital into tangible new products, services and models that fundamentally change outcomes for people all around the planet.

But what are we?  Who are we?  You can look at W1SDØM a few different ways, as a collective, as a company, and as an online platform.  

Collective

W1SDØM is made up of members and leaders of a large, global movement that is doing things differently than ever before.  Leveraging near-universal knowledge, borderline-ubiquitous communications, and unlimited human inspiration, emerging tribes of innovators, entrepreneurs, investors and instigators are re-writing the rules of capitalism to provide more diverse benefits to a much broader group of people (that's right, everyone).

This movement is diverse, containing Wall St. refugees and indigenous tribal elders; electrical engineers and up-cycling artists.  You may feel like you are already part of it, and want to get more familiar with the collective, the movement, the tribes and the warriors.  Welcome to the paradox. 

Company

W1SDØM is a for-profit company created by people who have been working to increase the flow of capital (remember, four types of capital -- intellectual, social, human and financial) for what approaches a collective century, depending on how you want to count.  

We came together in 2009 to scale our individual impact by pooling our capital to create more impact that each of us could individually.  Our goal is to increase effectiveness and efficiency, not just of impact entrepreneurs, but of the whole system of entrepreneurs, corporations, governments, investors, advisors and agitators who each need better access to the right resources.  

Our team has come to include geeks and sales execs, visionaries and implementers.  We have an inclusive organizational structure which invites people to participate at the level they can, and rewards contributions on accomplishments, not time served.  Read more about our values and our team.

We beleive in the transformative power of transparency and decentralized information.   Whether the Arab Spring or Wikipedia, information technology changes culture. Permanently.
